DIY fuge

Postby Kodvenom » Sun Jun 16, 2013 1:02 pm

So I was thinking of making a super cheap fuge, after what people were saying. Here is my idea. Get a fluvel 30 or 50 filter, instead of putting inserts in (sponge, biobeads) throwing that mud in the bottom and throwing some macro in there. Figure a way to block the macro from flowing out and boom I have a all in one hang on fuge. Sounds like it will work? Any suggestions?

You need to try go larger... A HOB converted to a fuge will not get you much for results I would think. This is assuming the HOB filter is a normal size and not some monster filter... It may work for some pod production as a pod haven, but as a fuge it may be a bit small. With fuges the answer is always go larger, but if it's all you can work with give it a shot and see if it will work.

Have you seen the ready built HOB fuges? CPR makes one. Check their design out and see if the size is comparable.

I used a Finnex breeder box with a small pump for a fuge for a while.
