A word of caution for anyone drilling a Biocube

Not sure if this has been addressed, but I haven't seen it anywhere. So, I have my Biocube all drilled and I'm excited to get it stocked and running. However, being the OCD/paranoid that I am. I wanted to verify that the drain seals would hold under full pressure of a completely filled chamber 2&3. I filled them, and low and behold they held. Needless to say, I was pleased with this but, again, being the paranoid I am, I wanted to let it sit for a few hours to make sure they'd hold, I left the tank for an hour or so, and when I came back I did indeed find a leak. However, it was not from my drains. It was a leak between chamber 1 and chamber 2 (chamber 1 and the display portion of the tank were empty for the test). On a non-drilled tank, this small leak would be inconsequential since there is nowhere for the water to go. In a drilled tank however, water will always seek the lowest level and in this case, it was the bottom of the lower chamber 1 intake. If this had been plumbed to a sump already and the display was full it would have drained the entire tank down to less than a quarter full and well past most sumps overflow capability. So, anyone wanting to drill a Biocube, it would be well worth your time to make sure these 2 chambers (chamber 1 & 2) are completely sealed from each other. An easy fix with a little silicone. If your drain (s) are toward the top of your tank it's no big deal, but if it's near the bottom it could be a disaster. Just thought I'd throw it out there for anyone else thinking of doing this modification.
