New from Sioux City

Postby Mrsfuschy » Tue May 27, 2014 7:56 pm

Hello! I am new to the group and in my first year of serious fish-keeping. (I had many smaller tanks in the past--3 gallon, 5 gallon, 10 gallon--with snails, aquatic frogs, bala sharks, Raphael catfish, other catfish, goldfish, etc.) I have been keeping tropical fish for about 8 months now (more seriously than the few here and there from the past) and have had a cichlid tank for about 6 months. (I took on one of my Dad's cichlids that was getting beat up pretty badly, and a few of his fry.)

I am actually in Sioux City, IA, but as far as I can tell there aren't any aquarium clubs for my area. We took a trip to Sioux Falls last weekend and I visited a local store (Mini Critters) and was pleased to see the selection of fish! (We brought home a Borneo loach and an aquatic frog.) Sioux City only has the chain shops and one small local place with a very small selection.

It is nice to find a community to be part of!

So, here are my tanks! (Oh! And we are so weird and I have kids who love to name the fish, so all of our fish have names. I have put their names in brackets. Some of their names actually have funny stories to go with them.) ;)

Tanks:

55 Gallon Cichlid
- 1 Bumblebee [Paladin]
- 3 Mixed Orange (Mom was Red Zebra, Dad unknown) [Mahna Mahna, Flash, Baby]
- African Spotted Leaf Fish [Toby]
- Regular Pleco [Spot]

20 Gallon Tropical (upgrading soon!)
- 5 Dalmatian Mollies (We started with one--she was pregnant, of course.) [Mama Molly, Bob, Enyar, Rednax, Phoenix]
- Long Fin Endler [Endler]
- 3 Cobra Endlers [Cobra, Tomato, Hot Dog]
- 2 Female Endlers [Momma K, Momma E]
- Borneo Loach/Sucker [Prince]
- Clown Pleco [Sonic]
- African Dwarf Frog [Frogbert]

10 Gallon Fry
- Lots of Endler fry [All fry are named "Bob" unless we keep them.]
- Mystery Snail [Gary]
- Rubber Lip Pleco [Squarepants]

3 Gallon Hospital/Quarantine
- Larger Endler Fry ["Bobs"]

(My kids have 2 Betta tanks. My son keeps killing his, so now his betta tank has two endler fry in it. If he keeps those alive, he may get another betta.) :P
