I believe I was a member on here for a brief moment in time several years ago, but now I'm back and hoping to be much more active. A little about myself:

I am a 35 year old man and have lived in Sioux Falls for the last 15 years. I am divorced and have an 8 year old daughter who lives with me part of the time.

I have been in the hobby for 20+ years starting with my first aquarium when I was in Junior High. It was a 10 gallon all in one from Walmart and I was hooked! Over the years I had several smaller aquariums until 2003 when I finally purchased my first large aquarium, a 55 gallon freshwater. I created my own custom stand for it and eventually made a matching hood. I still have this setup to this day. However, for the last year or so, It's been empty and I have some ideas on what I want to do with it, but my funds for my hobby have been spent elsewhere. I first got into saltwater back in 2005. I had an eclipse 3 gallon tank on my desk at work and decided to play around with it using saltwater. It was a great first experience and before long I had the desire to upgrade and got into a Biocube 14 which is where I am today. I am finally ready to step up again and thats what brings me here. To get deeper into the hobby and make some new friends in the area. I recently purchased a new 29g Biocube and am looking forward to the build. I'll try to document the project as best I can and keep it updated on here.

In my non-aquatic part of my life I have several hobbies and careers that lend themselves to skills that I can use in this hobby both for myself as well as others. I have an education in electronics technology. I worked for several years as an engineer designing power distribution products (think power strips but much more advanced). That job gave me access to AutoCAD and another program called Inventor which I used extensively for over 8 years. Currently I am working as a service technician repairing espresso and coffee equipment as well as some other beverage equipment from time to time. The job also requires me to work on RO systems on occasion so I also have some experience repairing these as well.

I am an avid mechanic and enjoy working on cars and tinkering with anything mechanical that I can get my hands on. I do all kinds of home improvement projects as well. I am fairly good at woodworking and have created some very nice pieces in the past. I especially am proud of the hood I made for my fresh water tank. My newest project is going to be a specialized aquarium stand for my new Biocube.

I am very excited to become involved with the aquarium society and would love to help anyone out however I can with the skills that I bring to the group. If you have any questions for me, don't hesitate to ask.
