put it backwards so that the microbubbles don't go in the tank and so that I didn't have to take the filter holder off the tank, only way it would fit was like this, and I"m not upset about it, frankly lol.

No modding, but i do have it up out of the water quite a bit to try to encourage dry skimmate.

pulled two half cups of decent gunk, but must have rinsed it too hard now no bubbling in the neck- guess I have to WAIT now.

came back strong overnight. Trying to tune a little for dryer skimming, seems to be doing well so far.

I know it's all in my mind but I feel like the tank looks better already, need to watch my salinity + add some salty water though I fear.

He has the Aquaticlife 115.

I'm pretty happy with mine. Does great for a low price tag.

The only real option on this skimmer from what I've seen. I haven't done the airline mod which might help some, but for now I'm content with fairly wet and seeing where it goes from there.

Mesh mod, airline mod, and a coat of never wet on the neck, should make it perfect

This is the last FTS I could find I had taken:

Now:

It looks dark because I focused on the sand to avoid whiteout in the 2nd shot but there is a huge difference in water clarity (which I never had a problem with until recently) and algae / cyano growth. Big cutdown on growth of both. Very happy with the progress finally.

Good PE this morning, not as much as I expect but much better than yesterday. Starting to darken up on the edges, might be the blue you were hoping to see. going to give it a couple more days at the bottom of the tank, then start moving it up to more light.

Going to be ready to cut a piece soon- obviously you'll want one, I think Matt wants one- after that it's freebies for all. Doing well with the move upward for more light and flow- I think I'll get it mounted soon and hopefully it starts to table a bit making fragging easy. Any thoughts on mounting it on a big round disc or tile to encourage easy to frag growth? I'd like to make sure we get a few cuts of this spread around asap ;)
