Nice! How much more until it's just wait and let it grow in? Are you doing 2 part or Kalk or a calcium reactor?? I noticed an explosion in growth with the addition of kalk to keep my calcium up.

I dose kalk and mag as needed. I am letting it grow, But the siren call for more flavors is hard to resist. I am thinking let them grow, and as space is needed frag or sell off some corals

I was manually adding then just decided to do it via ato and it really helped stabalize stuff. Can't wait to watch everything grow in!

I got kalk in my ATO, been doing that 6 months now and I drip mag when I get under 1300. Looking for apex code to start a powerhead to stir the kalk before the main pump turns on.

Cool, didn't know how you were administering. Sounds like you have the same setup as me, though I prefer not to stir my ATO at all.

Got my canopy today from Saltwater Saloon. Initial fit up looks great, taking it off to stain and seal lit before it stays put.

midway through a water change is not a good time to learn you had a heater crap out and the water headed for the tank is only 71 degrees. FML

no, it was the new water for the change, I had 1 die while mixing water. it is up and running now, used the sump to preheat the water and then turned on the return pump. All told worked great, but I am down to 3 spare heaters now.

I am getting ready to feed the corals tonight, made a smoothie of sorts, Coral frenzy, nutrimar ova, and PE mysis for my acans, just to show them the they are still loved.

I did a huge water change today, had some corals that were receeding, Acans were not doing well, even had a chalice die off on me, and they Meteor shower was bleaching fast. I did a 50 gal change on the system in hopes of saving it, no idea if that will work or not, but am hoping.

Looks like I may be proud owner of a dead tank. Large water change did nothing, in fact I think it may be worse. Corals are all slimed out, even the mushrooms are shriveled. ImageImage

Thank you Kevin for hooking me up with some emergency salt. So far I have lost all but 1 acan, all my chalices, all my favia, meteor shower, and my leptas, 4 shrimp, and some snails. Zoos aren't opening, mushrooms are all shriveled, and my rbta is near death. Hopefully another water change removes whatever is causing the issues.

The LPS I pulled were fully bleached, not a trace of tissue left. As for the tank, I couldn't find anything in the tank or sump that doesn't belong. Only thing I can think of was maybe something in the barrel that didn't get rinsed out. Peroxide should be ok, but who knows.

ran tests while water was heating and mixing, Ammonia spike, probably brought on by the dying corals and shrimp, filter media had dead bristle worms and pods. I think that there may have been something in the barrel other than peroxide that contaminated the water. I just finished a 45 gal water change with some salt that Kevine hooked me up with this morning (thank you again kevin) and so far the fish are all still swimming, and none of the mushrooms, rics, or anem has released.

Thank you everyone. I did another water change yesterday, dosed prime to try to keep whatever was in the tank from killing more, and added a pura filtration pad, and a jar of carbon. Hoping for the best. Going to give it a few weeks and see where we are at. I have narrowed it down to just not getting the barrel cleaned out well enough, and introducing some peroxide or something to the tank, I just hope the rest of the fish make it till the tank stabalizes.

Finished the sickening task of figuring the body count. Assuming my Rics, mushrooms, Euphillia, blastos, zoa, and neptha make it, so far my losses are:
Fish:
Golden Rabbitfish (Siganus corallinus)
2 peppermint shrimp
2 skunk cleaner shrimp
most my snails

Corals
Orange Pavona coral
Orange Leptoseris
Orange and purple leptastrea
john deere leptastrea
Blue Pavona (formed plates like the mint chip)
Acan Maxima/hillae
all my ultra lord acans
all my rainbow acans (11 acans in total)
Unique Corals UFO bowerbanki
Pinkeye Micromussa
Meteor Shower Cyphestrea
Red hot lava chalice
Hollywood stunner chalice
Small Miami hurricane chalice
Forest fire Chalice
Unique corals Miami hurricane
Mengs Mummy eye chalice
My Miami Chalice
Green and purple platygyra
Purple and blue platygyra
Purple and pink Favia
Double mint favia
babies breath favia
bi color war coral

I know I was crowding the corals a bit, the loss really hurts I wish I would have actually cut the insurance frags I planned ton cutting, but never got around to.

We all go through this sort of thing at some point... It sucks. I was in that "regret" stage in relation to insurance frags when my tank did a 95% crash after moving in 2009. I lost so many corals that I didn't get insurance frags out and am very sickened by that, even today...

The thing about being a member of a good club and having friends in the hobby like myself is we all stand together. When one person has an issue, others jump in to help where they can. The majority of the frags I traded with you I can cut for you again. Once the tank has stabilized and you test it with a coral to make sure things survive, I will set you up with a box of goodies, totally free of charge. All you need to do is let me know when you are ready for it.

Losses hurt, but knowing you have people standing behind you in support alleviates some of the hurt.

Thank you Pallin for the chaeto, starting to rebuild the pods for my mandarin. After careful study my best guess was 1 not rinsing the barrel good enough, got some peroxide in the tank. Not normally an issue till you couple it with 2 a bad heater. One of my water change heaters was full of water and dripping. Seems the heater leaked, leaching copper. I tested some of the unused water and it tested positive, so copper poisoning water starts the crash, associated ammonia spike does the rest, and it snowballed. Guess who is getting 4 shiny new 300 watt heaters...

Sorry to hear about your crash. It wouldn't take much copper to cause major problems.....frightening how quickly things can go south.

You might consider something like Poly-Filters to pull out any remaining heavy metals. Hopefully your live rock hasn't absorbed any copper.

When you get things squared away let me know, I might be able to help you with a few frags.

Thanks for the offer. I put poly pads in the day it crashed with carbon, purigen, carbon, and did I mention carbon? Lol. The corals that did survive seem to be doing well, and the tank tests clear for copper, so here's hoping

Time to add company to the misery. My powerheads are dead. Someone washed out the filter pad today and knocked the ato line out of the sump. Not a big deal, but the power supply for my jebaos was not up where it belonged
