Rails 72 Bow

Postby Railcar79 » Fri Oct 11, 2013 8:53 pm

I got me a nice 72 bow from Mike, so I starting a new build thread. The 55 is getting taken down.

For this one, 72 AGA bowfront
AGA sump
Odyssea 4 lamp T5HO lighting
Rio 1700+ pump
Eheim Jager 150 watt heater
Reef Octopus 150 skimmer.
Digital Aquatics RKL Plus controller
2 Korilia 800GPH powerheads running wavemaker through the RKL

Moving everything over from the 55, all the live rock and corals. Hope to have some updated pics up tomorrow. I am thinking about adding a Biopellet reactor, but since this will be a LPS tank not too sure about the pellets.

Let's see some pics! Is the tank drilled? If not, consider drilling it before setting it up. The back glass on a tank that size shouldn't be tempered but can be verified with polarized glasses

Pellets will be fine if you run them in a lower dose than recommended. With your work travel it would be a good idea to assist in keeping the parameters down a bit. It allows the person taking care of the tank to basically feed as much as they want and you won't have issues.

I like the aquascape too. Only thing I would do is use a flat rock to create a cave. I think I see a rock you could do that with.

Nice upgrade!

Thanks. Kind of hard to make it look right, I have 3 big rocks, 1 good size piece, and a lot of smaller fist sized pieces. Trying to find a couple pieces of Pukani that I can finish it with, or possibly some Marco that I can build a few caves with

new goodies coming home with me this week. Filling the Bioball area with rubble, doing a filter pad, and adding some new corals and my fish. The whole reason why I did the tank, my green mandarin.

I did get my RO working perfect, 0 TDS, and pushing 250 gpd. Took a carbon reactor and made a second stage Di, and changed dI canisters. Now if my ATO would stay in the sump and stop flooding my dining room....

Re: Rails 72 Bow

So the tank got a remodel today. Came out this morning to see I had a late night rockslide, and my corals were scattered. After 3 hours Aquascaping, a hour figuring out why the skimmer got noisy all of a sudden, and another hour fixing the sump where the skimmer cracked a baffle (AGAIN, I hate removing the skimmer I always seem to break that baffle) I got the tank back to tolerable madness. on the plus side, the biopellets are doing their job well, First phosphate test was 0.35 the last test yesterday was 0.14 and 0.09, so running a biopellet reactor with 1/4 cup of pellets for my 72 seems to work well, cyano is nearly all gone, and other algaes are receeding, and I found room for more corals...lol

New goodies are on their way. Apex Lite being added, and then when it comes in Jebao twin wp10 powerheads with the new twins controller. Decided against the 25s due to their higher flow. My tank is doing well with a pair of 800s, dont really want to drop 2 1700 heads in.

Apex system is connected, barely running, but connected. replaced lunar leds in my fixture, and now I wait for my powerheads..... apex was so easy to abuse when using standard programs and reworking them for torture test, i just wish I could get this programming figured out.

Get me outside access to the controller and I'll take a look... I need the IP/DNS name, port, and login info. You have my number. Send it to me in a text.

Once you get the hang of it you are going to slap yourself in the forehead and say "Dang that was easy"...lol

So Apex is up and running, It is posted on reeftronics as well, so anyone can check out my stats, and the barebones code i am using. after the headaches of setting it up, I am glad i went with apex over an arduino. Not sure I would have been avle to resist shooting the thing if it wasnt so expensive, a netduino or arduino board would be in the backyard full of holes by now. Still waiting on mu order from fish street, they are supposed to ship in the next week or so, the wp10 is in real high demand, especially since they upgraded it to mag mount.

Far right side is my rose bubble that I got from Lil Reefer. My only leather is a neon green Palau neptha.

I did cut a small frag of my Aussie Blasto Merletti tonight. Give it time, and it will be looking for a new home

If it ever splits, I may see about getting a clone of this your way Rick.

New bulb came in, thought my sister in law was ordering me 2, but only got 1. Ditched the ZooMed 10000k, put in an ATI Coral Plus. Big difference. Liking the color temp and how bright it is now.

ATI Coral Plus and ATI Blue Plus are two of my absolute favorite T5 bulbs.
