Some people are going to tell you that crabs are evil and would never put them in a reef tank. Mostly because they can kill snails. I kind of like them and the way they stir the sand as they dig through it. I have only had little blue leg hermits, scarlet reef hermits which are a little bigger, and emerald crabs. I have some of all of the above now. Definitely wouldn't get anything bigger.

I have had the same as Dustin and will have them likely in my future tanks as well. I have read they kill snails for their shells because as they grow they need larger ones and if the snail has such nature may take it course. A way to get around that possibly is to have a mix if empty shell sizes in the tank for the crabs to upgrade to. But I like crabs personally.

Dustin I have other reasons :) Too many crabs can decimate the microfauna in a tank. Many types can attempt to kill other things if they wish.

Also the red cap and white cap are growing well too I actually took a piece of red cap to the 75 looks good so far and all the frags from last swap seem to sill be growing good its been a journey but I keep learning and everyone has been helpful and I have learned so much I can't wait for years of reefing to come

Yep that's normal. I have I think 5 in my tank and hardly ever see them. Occasionally at night or when I feed I'll see one sneak out for a pellet or two. Otherwise, you wouldn't know they are in there.

Cleaners are usually more visible. They might find a shaded overhang to hang out in most often but are usually visible and roaming the tank much more often than peppermint. They can also be pesky when feeding, they like to steal pellets/food from corals like lps.

You know I have done some fresh water planted tanks and I have to say I like them but my coral tank is a planted tank on a different level and I'm loving it

Sounds like you are going through the natural progression w/ saltwater tanks. I started w/ a 28g nano then setup a 125 b/c I wanted more/bigger fish. Then the 125 became a 220 and somewhere along the line I got a 20 for a QT. It's probably a good thing that my wife set a 3 tank limit.
This hobby is addicting to say the least.
