my 75 gallon upgrade to 180

Postby kmac » Tue Jan 03, 2012 5:38 pm

This is my 75 gallon lets say qt. I can keep fish and soft corals but have problems with sps. So this was going to be my sps only tank. To give sps a try however I came across a fish I couldnt pass up. Here are some pics of my favorite fish. Tank water is a little cloudy.

Love your Moorish Idol!! I'd love to try one but I feel like I'm pressing my luck as it is with Butterflys and Angels with all the corals in my tank. I'd be curious to find out what corals you can keep him with and also what kind of food he eats.

Did you find him online?

Its funny, they've got a delicate reputation but I don't think I know of anyone in the area thats even tried one. I think everyone's been scared off of trying. Hope it works out and you can share the secrets of how to keep them.

Good luck with that beauty!!

I picked him up at mini critters on dec 15th. He looked amazing in there tank and was picking at the bottom. Lucky for me I had an open tank. He ate pellet right away. After a day or two he started eating everything flake, mysis, brine, and his favorite is the angle butterliy mix he will eat almost an entire cube in one feeding. His banner grows very quickly but i think it gets caught in the powerhead. He has become a more aggresive eater as the days go by.

As for corals hes in with montipora and frogspawn ant the moment I havent seen him pick at them yet but time will tell.

He has spotted with ich a couple times so I will see if I can get him through it.

Here is an update Its more for me I am just excited. But Sunday the 15th made it a full month for the moorish. He still has one white spot of ick but thats it. Thats really all he has shown no big deal in my opinion since all my fish spot from time to time. Still going strong at this point Im just keeping record of days he is alive.

Ya the moorish still eats everything. Hes getting better at first it had to be in the water colum. He has started picking pellet off of the sand and looks at the top of the water but he hasent ventured to the top to feed yet.
